Overview

Junk Restaurant Chain: Hospitality Fit‑Out Across Queenslandaking

After the successful installation at the Walton Stores Precinct in Toowoomba, Junk expanded its distinct hospitality experience across three additional locations in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Loved for its bold Asian street‑food menu and fast‑paced atmosphere, Junk required an interior design response that was expressive, energetic and instantly memorable. Aspect delivered a cohesive brand experience across all venues, while allowing each location to develop its own identity and market presence.

ECLECTIC HOSPITALITY INTERIOR DESIGN

Building A Strong Urban Dining Identity

Inspired by the grit and vibrancy of Asian street markets, Junk’s interior architecture is a curated mix of raw materials, layered textures and bold graphic elements. Each venue uses a defining feature — from statement lighting installations to large‑scale graphics, custom artwork and dramatic tiled counters — ensuring every location feels unique while remaining true to the brand.

The design language draws heavily from the visual energy of street‑food culture. In the dining rooms, long communal tables, suspended shelving and exposed structure create a lively, informal environment ideal for fast casual dining. Timber wall panelling, patterned floor tiles and dark feature walls balance warmth and contrast, reinforcing the restaurant’s urban edge. Pops of colour through stools and furniture add vibrancy, contributing to a spirited, market‑style dining experience.

Across all venues, Aspect supported the interior fit‑out, brand marketability and spatial planning, ensuring each tenancy provided both operational efficiency and strong visual identity. The open kitchen, framed by tiled counters and bold typography, strengthens the connection between guests and the energetic cooking environment.

Junk’s menu is a fusion of Thai, Japanese, Cantonese and Korean cuisine with an Australian twist, matched by interiors that celebrate creativity, culture and movement. The result is a memorable hospitality experience that has helped position Junk as a recognisable street‑food brand.
